Berthe Magella MAGAJIE WAMSA graduated in Actuarial Engineering, class of 2025. She joined ENSAE Paris in 2AD, as part of the double-diploma program with ENSEA Abidjan (Côte d'Ivoire). She is now a Risk Management Actuary with the APICIL Group.

Why did you choose ENSAE Paris and what do you see as its main strengths?

"I chose ENSAE Paris for its internationally recognized academic excellence. The school offers a rigorous education, closely linked to contemporary economic issues, opening the way to prestigious careers in France and abroad. What's more, joining ENSAE Paris was an opportunity for me to join an influential alumni network and benefit from unique internship and job opportunities.

What advantages have you gained from your choice of ENSAE Paris?

"I chose to sign a professionalization contract during my studies, which enabled me to combine theoretical training with practical work experience, just as I had envisaged. It gave me the opportunity to immerse myself in the business world, develop practical skills and gain a better understanding of the realities of the actuary's profession to which I aspired. In addition to the experience, I also wanted to have a source of income to support myself through the remuneration I received. In the end, this contract was a real springboard towards employment, as I was hired directly at the end of the contract by the company that had hosted my internship via the Career Center (Jobteaser ENSAE).

What do you still remember about your training at ENSAE Paris?

"I appreciate the analytical rigor and solid theoretical foundations that the school imparts. The added value of ENSAE Paris' training lies in the balance between academic excellence and openness to the professional world. The school also stands out for the quality of its network and the recognition it enjoys among recruiters.

The skills I acquired and the knowledge I developed as part of my professionalization contract also played an important role in my integration.

If you could keep just one memory from your time at ENSAE Paris, what would it be?

"One of the highlights of my time at ENSAE was my experience as President of the Bureau Des Internationaux. This role enabled me to get involved in the school's associative life, to encourage the integration of international students and to help create a more inclusive and friendly environment. Organizing cross-cultural events, accompanying new arrivals, and seeing the birth of lasting friendships between students from the four corners of the globe has been particularly gratifying.

Who would you recommend the School to?

"I would recommend ENSAE Paris to students who are curious, rigorous and attracted by mathematics, economics and statistics, and who want to gain an in-depth understanding of the world's economic and social mechanisms. It's an ideal school for those who enjoy solving complex problems, have an appetite for analysis and want to move into high-impact fields such as finance, public policy, consulting and so on. I would also recommend it to those with an international outlook, who appreciate an intellectually stimulating environment and are looking for a demanding education with excellent career prospects.

What advice would you give to future applicants interested in ENSAE Paris?

"Above all, I would tell them to believe in their potential, and not to censor themselves because of their origin, background or lack of representation. ENSAE Paris is a demanding school, of course, but it's accessible to everyone, provided they're motivated, rigorous and intellectually curious. Don't hesitate to ask questions, get in touch with former students, especially international ones, who can share their experience and reassure you.

I also advise younger students to develop a taste for mathematics and economics right from high school, and to aim for excellence without constantly comparing themselves to others. Each person's path is unique, and it's precisely this diversity that enriches the school.
