The Best Actuary's Thesis Prize ceremony - Class of 2024
On November 6, 2025, the 5th edition of the ENSAE Paris Actuarial Thesis Award was held at the premises of Allianz France.
Four nominees would compete for the Promotion 2024 edition and were able to "pitch" their thesis during the ceremony, offering the attending audience an overview of the richness of the topics addressed in actuarial science:
- Jeanne Bessiere for her thesis "Towards a joint modeling of the impact of several climatic factors on mortality"
- Axel Merlin for his thesis "Target asset allocation optimization in life insurance with artificial intelligence in the context of Solvency 2"
- Lou Nicolas for his thesis "Estimation of losses associated with the passage of a cyclone in La Réunion"
- Marc Jodel Simo for his thesis "Equity of models in insurance, measurement and mitigation of discrimination"
Isabelle Tournassoud (Vice-President of the ENSAE Alumni association) and Philippe Talleux (President of the Scientific Commission of the Institute of Actuaries) then unveiled the results of the jury and awarded the Best ENSAE Actuarial Dissertation - Class 2024 to Lou Nicolas, and a special mention to Marc Jodel Simo.
This award ceremony was preceded by a roundtable dedicated to the challenges and practices of artificial intelligence in the insurance sector, bringing together professionals, experts, and teacher-researchers:
- Isabelle Hébert, member of the ComEx of Allianz France and Director of the Data, Engagement, Marketing and Strategy Unit of Allianz France
- Olivier Lopez, ENSAE-CREST teacher-researcher responsible for the Actuarial track at ENSAE Paris
- Phillipe Talleux, President of the Scientific Commission of the Institute of Actuaries
- Pierre Vaysse, member of the Allianz France ExCom in charge of the Property and Liability Insurance Unit
