ENSAE Paris - École d'ingénieurs pour l'économie, la data science, la finance et l'actuariat

Internships

To support the professionalization of students, in addition to internships throughout the engineering curriculum or the end-of-studies internship in the advanced master's program, a number of actions are set up throughout the school year.
Internships

Internships throughout the engineering program

For each year of the ENSAE Paris engineering program, students are invited to complete an internship that will allow them to apply and develop their skills, to develop their network and to meet the School's graduation requirements. All internships integrated into the school's curriculum are subject to a report and a defense.

The objective is to give students the opportunity to confront the conditions of life at work in order to :

  • understand what a company, an administration or an organization is and its environment in order to integrate into it
  • understand and analyze professional relations in companies

No scientific or technical purpose is required for this internship.

  • Duration of the internship: 4 weeks minimum, between mid-June and mid-September
  • 2 ECTS credits for the 1st semester of the 2nd year

The objective of the internship is to put into "application" the lessons of applied mathematics and economics of the first and second year. The aim is to carry out a scientific approach in a professional environment and to synthesize this approach. The subject of the internship is subject to an a priori evaluation by the director of studies, who evaluates its scientific content.

A long internship year is possible between the second and third years, dedicated to the operational application of the scientific skills acquired at the school.

  • Duration of the internship: 10 weeks minimum, between early June and late September
  • 7 ECTS credits for the 1st  semester of the 3rd year

The objective is to apply the teachings of the third year of the engineering cycle and to ensure the transition towards the professional opportunities of the school.

Duration of the internship: 14 weeks minimum, between mid-May and the end of September. The duration of the final year internship is 6 months for students in the Actuarial Science track who wish to present a thesis before the jury of the Institute of Actuaries.

ENSAE Paris offers third-year engineering students who wish to do so the opportunity to follow this final part of their curriculum under a professionalization contract. The professionalization contract is concluded for one year. Its effective dates must correspond to the training period (October-September) with Tuesday, Wednesday and Friday at the school, and Monday and Thursday in the company.
For administrative reasons, ENSAE's Specialized Masters are not currently eligible for the scheme. Trainee civil servants (normaliens, polytechniciens, trainee administrators) who are paid by their school are also not eligible for this scheme.

  • 10 ECTS credits for the 2nd semester of the 3rd year

Support towards professional life

The corporate relations and internship department offers personalized support and follow-up to each student. The department's missions are twofold:

  • Individual and collective support for internships at the school and, more broadly, for students' professional projects. Students regularly ask the head of the service to help them with their reflections and their approaches (CV, cover letter, interviews, international mobility via internships, etc.);
  • Administrative follow-up of internships, from the request for an agreement to the validation of the internships via the defense

This intranet space, run by the corporate relations and internship department, aims to guide students in their search for internships and jobs, to provide advice related to internships and to develop useful networks for everyone. In addition to all the specific information related to internships, students have access to targeted internship and job offers, announcements of company career events and a space for presenting companies and their professions.

Finally, alongside these institutionalized contacts, students can discuss their career plans all year long with the Director of Studies, the Director of International Relations, the teacher-researchers and the teaching assistants. Discover the ENSAE Paris teams.

In order to better respond to the changes in the professional world, which requires constant adaptability, ENSAE Paris has set up a specific pedagogical offer that aims to provide its students with non-scientific transversal skills, around the following themes

  • Building a professional project
  • Working in a team
  • Oral communication skills

Throughout the year, events are organized to allow students to refine their career plans and to meet potential future recruiters and actors of the professional world that awaits them (public actors, private companies, international organizations, etc.). These events are organized jointly by the school and the student associations.

Every Tuesday, representatives of companies or public organizations come to present their professions as well as the opportunities offered by their structure (internships, jobs, careers...). These interactive conferences allow students to discover a wide range of professions during a friendly exchange. These events are organized by the ENSAE Forum association.

Companies, public organizations and research laboratories regularly ask the Corporate Relations and Internship Department to organize conferences on their premises, which allow students to discuss directly with professionals.

This is ENSAE's annual meeting with the school's alumni community. Organized around round-table discussions, the talks focus on the career paths of former students, current issues and challenges in the employment sectors. This event is organized by the Forum ENSAE association in partnership with the School and the alumni association.

This business forum is organized every year in November by the student associations of four major engineering schools (MINES ParisTech, École des Ponts, ENSTA Paris and ENSAE Paris). It is an opportunity for students to meet professionals representing more than 200 companies, from start-ups to international groups, who come to present a wide range of professions. This event is organized by the Trium ENSAE association. To find out more about the event

This hackathon mobilizes students from ENSAE Paris around challenges in machine learning and deep learning for the benefit of charities. This event is organized by the Statup association.

The School's student associations organize numerous events throughout the year, which allow students to discover other professional perspectives.
