Seminar in economics

Objective

Professors in 2021-22 : Bertrand Garbinti, Corentin Trévien, Simon Bunel.

This course is presented in the form of eight small classes. It is an introduction to reading economics texts and giving presentations. It takes the economic themes course further, focusing on presentations on eight subjects

Planning

For this course, students are divided into three groups of proportional size. The groups take it in turns to deal with all the different themes.

A total of 12 topics are studied. The time allocated to each of them is 1h30. Each group will therefore follow 12 sessions of 1h30 each during the semester, i.e. a total of 18 hours of classes for this subject.

Each session of 1h30 is divided into 4 distinct times:
1.    A 20-minute presentation by one or two students defending arguments for (resp. against)
2.    20 min presentation of one or two students defending arguments against (resp. for)
3.    15-minute discussion with the whole class
4.    Summary lecture by the teacher for 30 minutes.

References

A set of references and descriptions will be distributed at the beginning of the semester by the microeconomics teaching assistant (or on the course intranet page). After learning about their topics, students are also encouraged to contact the lecturers if they want more references.
