ENSAE Paris-CREST | Faculty Position in Sociology

ENSAE Paris and CREST are currently inviting applications for a position of Assistant (or Associate) Professor in Sociology.

The appointment starts on beginning of 2022 (negotiable).

Candidate Profile

  • PhD in Sociology or a related discipline (at the time of appointment);
  • Solid general knowledge in sociology;
  • Proficiency in quantitative methods;
  • Strong publication record or potential;
  • Proficiency in French;
  • Proficiency or working knowledge in English;
  • Participation in international academic networks.

Conditions

The position has no citizenship requirement. Contract type (Assistant or Associate) and salary depend on the diplomas, experience and research potential of the successful candidate. At the Assistant Professor level the tenure-track position is for a six-year period (with mid-term evaluation) and with a possibility for tenure (Associate Professor). Assistant Professors are expected to teach at least one course at the undergraduate level and one course at the Master level. Associate Professors typically teach one more advanced course.

Poste et missions  

Rattaché(e) directement au directeur de l’ENSAE Paris, le/la titulaire du poste est responsable du service de la vie étudiante (composé de trois agents, dont le responsable) dans ses multiples aspects :

  • Il/elle supervise l’inscription administrative des étudiants dans les différents cursus de l’école ;
  • Il/elle assure la remontée des données CVEC et organise la commission CVEC interne à l’établissement ; à ce titre, participe aux commissions CVEC organisées par le CROUS sur le campus Paris Saclay ;
  • Il/elle supervise le suivi de la situation des étudiants étrangers devant obtenir un titre de séjour de la part des services préfectoraux ;
  • Il/elle supervise l’octroi des diverses bourses sur critères sociaux et organise à ce titre une commission des bourses qui affecte ces ressources aux étudiants internationaux n’étant pas éligibles à une bourse via le Crous, suivant un barème défini par le conseil d’administration du Groupe ;
  • Le/la titulaire du poste organise également les visites médicales et suit les dossiers concernant les services de santé destinées aux étudiants (vacations d’une psychologue et d’une infirmière, lien avec les écoles partenaires sur ces thématiques) ;
  • Il/elle assure le recrutement des professeurs vacataires de sport et établit l’emploi du temps des activités sportives en lien avec les autres établissements du campus qui utilisent les mêmes infrastructures sportives ;
  • Le/la titulaire suit également les dossiers relatifs au logement et à la restauration des étudiants, en lien avec le secrétariat général du groupe ; à ce titre il/elle est amené à avoir des contacts fréquents avec ses homologues des autres établissements de Paris Saclay, ainsi qu’avec les différents bailleurs dont le CROUS ;
  • Il/elle coordonne les actions de prévention à destination des élèves (harcèlement, alcool…) ;
  • Il/elle est l’interlocuteur des étudiants pour les différents aspects de la vie associative (conseil juridique lors de constitution d’associations, organisation de la sécurité des événements se déroulant dans l’enceinte de l’école, prévention contre l’alcoolisme et la drogue) et organise une commission de la vie étudiante, ainsi que les commissions d’attribution des subventions aux associations ; organise le dispositif de Valorisation de l’Engagement Etudiant (VEE) ;
  • Sur l’ensemble de ces sujets, il/elle participe aux groupes de travail et événements de l’Institut Polytechnique de Paris et de la Conférence des Grandes Ecoles.

Le titulaire du poste mène son action en lien étroit avec :

  • La direction des études de l’ENSAE, concernant l’ensemble de la vie étudiante ainsi que l’organisation des concours d’admission ;
  • Le service des relations internationales pour le suivi des élèves internationaux, la bibliothèque et le service des relations entreprises et stages ;
  • Le pôle exploitation, maintenance du bâtiment (secrétariat général du GENES), concernant notamment l’accueil, la sécurité et la logistique ;
  • Ses homologues de l’IP Paris.

Lieu d’exercice du poste : ENSAE Paris – 5 avenue Henry le Chatelier, 91120 Palaiseau (RER : Massy-Palaiseau).

Profil

  • Niveau d’études min. requis : diplômes de niveau Bac plus 3.
  • Première expérience d’organisation et de suivi de la vie étudiante dans l’enseignement supérieur ou à défaut dans le secondaire.

ENSAE Paris-IP Paris | Assistant/Associate Professor position in Econometrics/Applied Econometrics at Hi! Paris

Presentation and context of the institution

The Institut Polytechnique de Paris (IP Paris), legally created in May 2019, brings together five Grandes Ecoles: the École Polytechnique, ENSTA Paris, ENSAE Paris (a GENES school), Télécom Paris and Télécom SudParis (two IMT schools). This grouping of five institutions of excellence within the Institut Polytechnique de Paris deliberately places itself in an international approach to higher education and research. IP Paris’ ambition is to train 10,000 students by 2022.

It enables these Schools to combine their strengths, to amplify their existing cooperative actions and to gain in visibility, especially internationally, by capitalizing on their assets and by carrying out a transformation that will position the Institut Polytechnique de Paris according to international standards. Gathered on the same campus, these Schools have tremendous potential, enabling them to leverage their strengths to implement joint projects.

Hi! PARIS: created jointly by HEC Paris and the Institut Polytechnique de Paris (IP Paris), Hi! Paris is a new interdisciplinary research and teaching center dedicated to AI and Data Sciences. Hi! Paris, the first European interdisciplinary and interinstitutional center combining education, research and innovation, aims to become a world leader in the field within 5 years by addressing the main challenges of technological transformation and its impact on business and society. The Center will rely on the 300 researchers and the infrastructures of IP Paris and HEC Paris in these fields. ENSAE Paris and IP Paris welcome applications for a tenure track position as Assistant Professor or tenured position as Associate Professor in Econometrics (theory and applications) to begin in September 2021. With a main focus on the identification of causal effects, its methods and its applications, the successful candidate will be affiliated to CREST. The position comes with a substantial recruitment package.

Work description

The primary focus is research on advanced methods for the identification of causal effects, both in its theoretical and applied dimensions, as a part of the “AI and Data Sciences for Society” area of Hi! Paris. The successful candidate will have demonstrated leadership and research accomplishments in Econometrics, both in its theoretical and applied components, including but not limited to the following research areas: econometric and statistical methods for the evaluation of public policies, econometrics for randomized experiments, causality, as well as applications in particular to health-related questions.

A main criterion for employment is a strong commitment to research and teaching. The position requires a Ph.D. in Economics with a specialization in Econometrics. The candidate must have evidence of strong research productivity in the aforementioned fields. The successful candidate will have an important role and large freedom in developing the area of causal inference, both in research and in undergraduate and graduate education. The candidate is also expected to develop collaboration across institutional boundaries inside and outside the university IP Paris and within Hi! Paris.

The position includes a substantial recruitment package including salary, research budget, PhD grant, amounting to a maximum of 250 000 € per year for an assistant professor and 350 000€ per year for an associate professor. ENSAE Paris-CREST | Position in Statistics and Machine Learning

ENSAE Paris and CREST are currently inviting applications for a position of Associate Professor in Statistics and Machine Learning.

The appointment starts on September 1, 2021. Salary is competitive according to qualifications. The teaching duties are reduced compared to French university standards.

Candidate Profile

  • PhD in Statistics or Machine Learning.
  • Outstanding research, including subjects in high-dimensional statistics and machine learning, in particular, robust procedures.
  • Publications in leading international journals in Statistics and leading outlets in Machine Learning.
  • Demonstrated ability to teach courses in Mathematics, Statistics and Machine Learning for engineers and to supervise projects in Applied Statistics. The successful candidate is expected to teach at least one course in mathematics, applied mathematics or introductory statistics at the undergraduate level, and one course in the “Data Science, Statistics and Machine Learning” specialization track during the third year of ENSAE (Master level).
