Foreign students

Among the 750 ENSAE students, about 20% are from abroad. This demonstrates ENSAE’s policy to recruit foreign students. The extension of the School’s network is likely to widen and diversify this policy.

ENSAE has had a tradition of welcoming students from Africa: 50% of our foreign students come from either north- or sub-Saharan Africa. Among these two thirds take the nationwide competitive examination after 2 years in classes préparatoires and one third (15 students/year) are recruited according to university qualification.
The other nationalities range from Central Europe to the Middle-East and Southern Asia.

The fact that Central European nations are now part of the E.U. has created a new opportunity to accelerate the recruitment of their nationals. INSEE is involved in numerous missions of cooperation together with the statistical institutes of those countries. ENSAE being a training centre for their administrators, it is likely to be the French Grande Ecole in which the future executives of these institutes are to obtain their training as engineers.

ENSAE, also recruit students from Southern Asia, and mainly China.

Working language

French as a second language is mandatory for students coming from non-francophone countries. Although more and more courses are delivered in English, courses are mainly taught in French.

Assistance to students

Foreign students, mainly when originated from non-francophone countries, will get special attention from the academic advisor together with the foreign relations officer who will help them to solve most academic, monetary or intercultural problems. Students should also refer to these two people as far as scholarships are concerned.
