Eight foreign languages are taught at ENSAE, along with French:
The aim is to enable students to cope with everyday life and to get access to jobs in various countries.
Mastering linguistic tools and getting cultural references are the main objectives that ENSAE students have to reach, whatever their level of knowledge. After a placement test when entering the ENSAE students are dispatched in groups based on their level. Various themes can be chosen from the intermediate level.
All ENSAE graduates should be able to acquire advanced working proficiency in English. ENSAE second year student have to take the TOEIC test; a minimum 750 points is required to get the ENSAE diploma.
First year students at pre-intermediate level are taught extra courses in order to improve their skills.
All along the 3-year program, language teaching aims at making students perfect their linguistic knowledge. Each semester the students’ progression will be tested and groups may be reorganised according to level changes. The traditional four skills are equally practised (oral comprehension and expression, reading and writing). Students have to master those skills in at least two foreign languages. The daily use of new technologies will then prove useful.
