The Quantitative Methods and Social Sciences major provides an original combination of theoretical courses, covering a wide range of social sciences from marketing to sociology, as well as advanced statistical and econometric methods especially suited for empirical analysis in these areas. This major aims to connect theoretical knowledge in social sciences to the most recent techniques of quantitative analysis. Three modules are available, corresponding to three major fields of application : Quantitative Marketing, Public Policies and Quantitative Sociology. The econometric and statistical methods taught in the Quantitative Methods and Social Sciences major have a wide range of applications, and lead to careers as statistical applied researchers, in the public as well as the private sector. Due to the specificity of their training, ENSAE alumni with a quantitative marketing background have enjoyed fast careers. Prospects are thus excellent in firms specializing in statistical surveys, such as opinion polls. Students' ability to extract and analyze relevant information from survey data is also a major asset in firms whose business is consumer oriented. This module is best complemented by a part-time internship. The public policy module leads to jobs as statistical analysts in institutions in charge of the evaluation of public policies, such as ministries, applied research centres, central banks, social security organizations etc. This module is best complemented by masters level research in economics. The quantitative sociology module leads to research and teaching, but also to careers as statistical analysts in public organizations (statistical institutes, demography institutes etc.) or polling organizations. This module is best complemented by masters level research in sociology. |
