There is no restriction a priori on the programs that can be followed abroad. Every student can submit their project to the director of graduate studies. The scientific quality of this project is then assessed on a case-by-case basis.
However, students are encouraged to consider the list of programs followed by ENSAE's student in the past. The institutions in charge of these traditional partnerships have gained good knowledge of the academic standards achieved by ENSAE's students at the end of the second year (equivalent to three BScs in mathematics, economics and statistics). Some institutions, for lack of knowledge of the French system of Grandes écoles, remain reluctant to admit ENSAE students in Masters programs before they graduate from ENSAE.
One of the goals of ParisTech is precisely to strenghten the international recognition of the French system of Grandes écoles.
